Building low-code solutions
OpenText AppWorks is key in building solutions on a low-code platform. AppWorks uses entity modelling for quick prototyping and BPMs for configuring advanced features. After my first contact I became a big proponent and through my blog appworks-tips.com I'm sharing my weekly knowledge which brought me to the expert I'm now.
Giving advice on best practices
With my 15 years of ECM experience in the field I learned my lessons from the OpenText products. The failed activities brought me the expertise I currently have. This helps in giving a solid advise on best practices for the OpenText ECM product stack. We can always improve created solutions based on my experience.
Steering the customer
A customer always has a set of requirements to build into a solution. My task as a consultant is to make sure those requirements fit into the correct OpenText product. To make a steady future it's important to meet the potential of the product and don't pass its limits if not required to do so.
Building integrations
Every customer has its own systems in place to manage specific tasks. OpenText products have an enriched set of connectors available to communicate with external systems. Systems like Documentum, Content Server, SAP, or AD. I brought alive connectors already since day one of my own journey. My knowledge can help to implement your integration.
Maintenance & troubleshooting
A solution running on a production environment requires maintenance and troubleshooting. Not only on solution level (functional); also on service level (technical). Always focus on a steady environment where easy upgrades are key for a bright platform future. I learned to use the tools on my projects for investigating problems and do troubleshooting tasks.
Migration & data conversion
Every customer has its legacy systems with stored data. This data is key for the business to continue working. OpenText products have input streams to read this data and do conversions on it. My end-goal for your valuable data would be to migrate it into a new environment where we can enrich it with new functionality.
Monitoring & reporting
The OpenText ECM product stack delivers services, packages, data generation, and collaboration. All these activities require monitoring through logfile analyses and reporting. My experience can help to build those reports for your managers and put monitoring in place for your administrators.
Installation & configuration
Installing OpenText software became my sixth sense. During the last couple of years I continuously installed new versions to review the latest functionality. During these explorations I see many configuration settings passing by. Your installation will not be that different where even a silent installation is possible to do.
Providing training
Helping others on forums is great, but the most value delivery happens through a training session. There is time to ask questions directly where we can even have a discussion around a specific topic. My unique communication skills makes the most complex case, a simple task to do. We use my own custom modularized training material supported by your own environment, or a dedicated system.
HTML5 customization
When client-side components require an extension this is done via HTML5. My self-taught learning skills make it possible to quickly dive into a new JS technology to make the implementation happen. This can be a standalone application, or an integrated communication page.
Java modules & extensions
When a server-side platform component requires an extension, we do this in Java. I already wrote modules for other projects and know my way in IntelliJ with Maven build tools and writing Unit tests. The SOLID principles of programming are familiar, and I love to read books about Java to weekly improve my own skills.
